Holywell Village First School is situated in the small village of Holywell in South East Northumberland. Our site is surrounded by rolling farmland and is close to natural amenities such as Holywell Dene and Holywell Pond. We are extremely lucky to have beautiful school grounds and are constantly seeking ways in which to improve them.
We strive to provide a close, welcoming 'family' community ethos and we ensure all children are kept safe from harm.
Creative and outdoor learning feature strongly in our enriched and exciting curriculum in pursuit of our aim to 'Make Learning an Adventure'. We firmly believe children should enjoy coming to school and be excited about their learning. We are also committed to ensuring all children are supported in order to reach their full potential in all areas of the curriculum. We are very proud and constantly surprised and delighted by the standards of both behaviour and work that our children produce.
Basic skills in English, maths and ICT are paramount if our children are to be fully prepared for the next stage in their education. We have high expectations for all of our children and the progress of each child is carefully monitored on a regular basis. We are proud of the fact that we have higher than average attainment and continually monitor and evaluate ourselves to ensure we are improving and developing in light of new initiatives.
Children are our future citizens and we recognise our duty to ensure we prepare our pupils for their adult lives. We promote responsibility through a monitor system for older children and have a strong and active School Council. All children are regularly asked for their views on many areas of school life and the curriculum.
Holywell Village First School is a school that we are rightly proud of and we welcome visitors to our school. If you would like to visit please contact the school office to make an appointment.
